About

Wendy Selvig

Welcome to The Oily Academy, this is my website. Like most women, I wear many hats. Mom, wife, substitute-teacher, non-profit organization manager, plus, I’ve pursued multiple tasks that bring in multiple streams of income to help my family. The very best thing I’ve ever done for myself and my family was to join Young Living!

I’m a Certified Aromatherapist, Certified in the Raindrop Technique (an essential oil-based massage), and I’ve been a researcher for a non-profit health based organization for 20 years.

That knowledge led me to essential oils and Young Living. I love that their oils are distilled in surgical stainless steel (no aluminum toxicity), and I’ve talked personally with farm managers and fell in love with their non-GMO, no pesticides and many other special processes of farming to guarantee safety and promote the health of the planet.

My business has slowly grown as I also have been busy with life. Now I am a gold level leader, which means sales hit over $35,000 a month. My commissions more than cover our house payment, and this brings me so much joy. Here is a copy of the Young Living Income Disclosure Statement, if you’d like to know about that.

Young Living As A Legit Stream of Income – Learn From Someone Who is Already Doing it.

Making it in the MLM industry can be an uphill climb. More people fail than succeed. If you are wanting to grow a stream of income for your family, I recommend learning from someone who has been in it awhile and who has some strategies for winning. Signing up under a family member or friend has it’s ups and downs. Unless they have purchased the business kit and are a Brand Partner, your purchases don’t benefit them. And, they probably can’t help you really build a business. This is why I offer the coaching to people outside my team. Many people get started with Young Living and don’t have anyone to guide them. I am not going to recruit you to my team (I won’t allow it) and I’ll help you make a plan so you can be successful.

I’ve been in Young Living since 2008, though for the first 5-6 years I was a product user only. Then, when I decided to go for it in 2013, I hit the mark of “silver in 6” and took my monthly sales from $4000 to $10,000 in 6 months.

The great thing about this business is that you can pause it if you need to when life happens. For several years, I took off from running my business because our family moved to the country of Panama to help with a missions/farm project that my brother started. My family of 5 was able to do this by living off my Young Living residual income, which was such a blessing.

I started doing vendor events about 6 months before Covid hit and really perfected the art. I was so excited to work hard and had 20 events planned for the year when everything was shut down and my events were all cancelled. I was so discouraged and angry but felt an inner prodding by who I believe is the Holy Spirit, to start a podcast. I had a lot of fear to overcome in doing this. As I did it (imperfectly more often than not), it was very blessed and has grown to having around 100,000 downloads now. This has helped me understand growing my business and having a resource to share with others (whether a podcast or blog or even handouts), and how important that is.

Now that Covid is over and life is getting back to normal, my business is moving and shaking and growing more than before. I train my team on how to do vendor events, classes and a bit of social media, and the methods are working.

My Commitment

If you are on my team, I am here for you (free of charge, of course!) to train you, guide you, encourage you and help you become successful. If you are not on my team, but reach out for a coaching call, I’ll help you see where you are, and help you make a plan. Then, you’ll have access to a training vault of 9 different videos I’ve put together for continual education including an intensive training on vendor events, and an introduction to social media.
